AVIS is a simple, easy to use videodigitizer for videoconferencing, and interactive TV that is designed to be fun. It provides 16 levels of gray-scale video in image sizes of up to 96 x 76 pixels, which update every 2 seconds.
AVIS is a videodigitiser that converts analog video to a stream of serial data. You can send your images on analog telephone lines and the internet. AVIS works with Macintosh OS, PC DOS and Windows, Amiga, and PDA. For personal and office group video conferencing,and remote phone line video trasmission Surveillance system.
Abilities
AVIS can transmit black and white images on analog telephone lines or the internet. The complete system consists of hardware and software. Users add their computer, a AVIS CCD camera or camcorder and a standard 14400/V.42bis modem to have a complete video telephone.AVIS just connects between the computer and the modem. AVIS can be used for different applications: video conferencing, remote surveillance, live transmissions of graphics.
System
Depends on the application. If you want to receive images only, the software is sufficient. It is freeware, available for DOS, Windows, Mac OS and Amiga and can be downloaded from our
FTP-server. If you want to

Technical details
AVIS is transmitting black and white images every 2 seconds on analog telephone lines or the internet with TCP/IP and is converting PAL/NTSC/SECAM videosignals to RS-232 with automatic gain control (AGC) in oder to get the best possible image quality. The Image size is 92 by 76 pixel with 16 levels of grey. Together with a standard 14400/V.42bis modem on analog telephone lines, (and without a computer) AVIS can be used standalone for Surveillance applications. But modem need set for (Dumb Mode), Dumb Model is disable "AT" Command.
AVIS has two components: hardware and software. By adding a computer and a high-speed modem, users of AVIS have a complete picture-phone available to them. Sending pictures or voices from one computer to another is only the most basic function of AVIS. It can also be used for video conferencing, transmission graphics or voice.
AVIS, in principle, works with most computers that have a serial interface. It has been programmed for the front-end of AMIGA, MAC and PC. Programming for the front-end of X-Windows is currently under development. If your operating system is not one of the aforementioned, feel free to contact us. AVIS project is currently open ended.
Without the AVIS videodigitizer you can still use the AVIS software by itself. AVIS pictures can be received and stored on a hard disk and/or transmitted to another location. AVIS can even be used without a computer. Just connect AVIS to a modem, hook up a camera or video device, and the images can be transmitted to any location. For surveillance purposes. The multiple video conferencing through Ethernet or Token Ring networks. Other platforms are also under development.
